This Privacy Policy applies to the Lumen – Lightmeter application (“App”) for Android. At Lumen, we believe your privacy is fundamental. This policy outlines how the App operates locally on your device and clarifies our strict stance on zero personal data collection.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Lumen does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
The App is designed to operate locally on your Android device. All of your personal configurations, including saved presets, film emulations, and custom lightmeter settings, are stored locally on your device’s internal storage. We do not maintain any servers to store your data, and we do not track your usage behavior.
2. Weather and Environmental Analysis
To provide specialized analogue photography features such as UV index tracking, golden hour timing, and location-based light readings, Lumen requires an active internet connection.
- How it works: The App fetches real-time environmental and weather data based on your current geographic coordinates.
- Your Privacy: This location data is processed locally or sent anonymously as an API request solely to retrieve the necessary weather data. It is never linked to an identifiable user, stored on external servers by us, or used for tracking and marketing purposes.
3. Device Permissions
To function correctly, Lumen requires specific permissions on your Android device. We only request permissions that are absolutely necessary for the App’s core functionality:
- Camera: Required to measure light intensity and provide accurate lightmeter readings. No photos or video recordings are captured, saved, or transmitted by the App.
- Location (Foreground): Required to calculate accurate golden hour times and fetch local weather/UV index data.
- Network / Internet Access: Required strictly to download real-time weather and environmental analysis data.
4. Third-Party Services
While Lumen itself does not collect personal data, the App embeds and utilizes OpenWeatherMap’s One Call API 3.0 to fetch real-time environmental conditions and UV index information.
To provide these features, Lumen transmits your geographic coordinates to OpenWeatherMap. OpenWeatherMap receives only the coordinates necessary to return the weather data and is not provided with any personal identifiers, advertising IDs, or tracking data from your device. 5. Data Security
Because your data (such as presets and film settings) never leaves your device, it is protected by your Android operating system’s built-in security features. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, your saved presets and configurations will be permanently deleted.
6. Children’s Privacy
Lumen does not contain content harmful to children, nor do we knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13, as we do not collect personal information from any users.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app’s features or Android permission requirements. Any updates will be reflected within the App and on this page, with an updated “Effective Date” at the top.
